Everyone experiences difficulties at times in life. You may need support for a specific reason like bereavement, for which counselling can help you come to terms with the loss. It can also help for less specific issues such as finding work too stressful, difficulties in relationships, feeling angry or depressed, or not coping as you normally do, and wondering why.
Sometimes we get stuck in our thoughts, feelings and behaviour which can cause pain, unhappiness, stress or anxiety. This can also cause discomfort and tension for those around us, affecting our personal relationships both at home and at work.
Counselling can help you to unlock these thoughts and feelings, and gain insight into why you are like you are - or why things are not always the way you would like them to be. It can help you to become more self-aware, to make sense of what is going on, and enable you to manage difficult feelings and issues.
Counselling, therefore, works towards enabling you to have a better understanding of yourself. It allows the possibility of change by removing issues, approaching life in a constructive way, and having more control over life choices, promoting a sense of well-being and better self-esteem.
The trust built up between client and counsellor is at the heart of the process. Together we explore your feelings and emotions in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment, working towards helping you feel better about yourself and your life.
